The Cosen M5 and M8 are fully automatic horizontal bandsaws that mitre forward or backward to 60 degrees under program control. Lengths, quantities and angles are entered together on the 10 inch HMI, a servo-driven shuttle vice positions the material, the saw bow swivels to each angle and the cut list runs automatically once loaded. A 10 degree blade cant is set for H-beam, I-beam, channel and profile.
They suit structural fabricators and steel merchants cutting beam and section in volume where opposing mitres are needed on the same bar. Width is the choice between the two: the M5 cuts to 500 mm wide on a 34 mm blade, the M8 to 800 mm on a 54 mm blade.
Key features
Programmed double mitre to 60 degrees
The saw bow swivels forward or backward to any angle up to 60 degrees under program control on a heavy-duty rotary work table, with the angle held in the cut list with length and quantity. Opposing mitres on one beam are cut in sequence without turning the bar end for end.
10 degree blade cant
The blade runs at 10 degrees to the material so it enters the flange progressively and stays in contact through the web. This reduces tooth load at entry on beam, channel and profile.
Smart NC-100 on a 10 inch HMI
The control stores jobs by length, quantity and angle, compensates kerf loss automatically and shows the linear downfeed rate as the blade cuts. The cut list is entered once, and feed is set against the reading rather than by guess.
Servo-driven shuttle vice
Material is fed by a shuttle vice on a servo motor with a 2 m single stroke and multiple indexing to 99 m. Feed is positioned to the millimetre at 15 m per minute, and long parts are reached without a separate measuring stop.
Double retracting vice jaws
Both vice jaws open and close together on large scrape-free plates, so misaligned or bent stock is centred by the vice rather than pushed to one side. Hot-rolled section feeds without jamming and the cut stays square to the bar.
Hydraulic guide arm and blade guide
The guide arm positions hydraulically to the material width and carries carbide guides with bearing pre-alignment. The unsupported blade span is kept to the minimum for each section, which holds squareness at full mitre angle on wide beam.
Vibration damper
A damper bears on the blade to reduce vibration through the cut, improving surface finish on thin-wall and open sections.
Mitre angle display and two swivel speeds
The current mitre angle is displayed on the control, and the bow swivels at a fast rate to near the angle and a slow rate to position. Angle changes between parts are quick and accurate without the operator checking a scale.
