OMSG Tunnelblast Tunnel Shot Blaster

OMSG Tunnelblast Tunnel Shot Blaster

Single-pass blasting for large fabrications on hoists, monorail or trolleys

  • Size 1000 x 1500 to 3000 x 3500 mm | Wheels 8 to 16 | Load up to 30000 kg

The Tunnelblast is the OMSG tunnel shot blaster for medium and large fabrications. Work is carried through the blast tunnel on a power and free overhead conveyor, a pair of hoists or driven trolleys at floor level, and the full surface is blasted in one pass. Throughput openings run from 1000 x 1500 mm to 3000 x 3500 mm, with 8 to 16 blast wheels.

It suits work too big or awkward for a roller conveyor: building steel, cranes and lifting structures, earthmoving and agricultural equipment, truck chassis, tanks and large castings. Hoist versions carry loads up to 30000 kg. A manual touch-up cabinet or a blow-off and suction cabinet can follow the tunnel, and the machine is commonly built into an automatic blast and paint line.

Key features

Tunnel blast chamber

Blast wheels are positioned along the tunnel so every face of the component is exposed as it travels through. The whole part is cleaned in one pass rather than being turned and blasted again.

Choice of handling system

Work is carried by a power and free overhead conveyor, a pair of hoists or driven trolleys on floor rails. The system is chosen by part size and weight, how the workshop moves steel now, and whether the machine feeds a paint line.

Large and irregular work

The Tunnelblast takes fabrications that will not sit flat on a roller conveyor, such as crane booms, chassis, bogies, tanks and earthmoving frames. Smaller components are hung on jigs and run through in batches.

Touch-up and clean-down cabinets

A manual blast cabinet can follow the tunnel for touching up deep pockets, along with a blow-off and suction cabinet to clear residual shot. Parts leave clean and free of abrasive before paint.

Blast and paint line integration

Tunnelblast machines are often the first station of an automatic blast and paint line on a common handling system. Parts move from blasting to painting without being unloaded and re-hung.

Figures are from OMSG installations and show the range built. Each Tunnelblast is specified to the work: send us the size and weight of your largest components and how steel moves through your shop, and we will specify the tunnel, wheels and handling around them.

Specifications are indicative and subject to change by the manufacturer without notice. Please confirm any figure critical to your application before ordering.
