Automated profile loading and unloading for the AORE GR-H beam laser
The H-ALS is an automated loading and unloading system for the AORE GR-H beam laser. It feeds structural sections from 300 x 150 mm to 800 x 500 mm, in lengths to 12 m and loads to 5 t, and removes finished parts.
Two stations operate alternately: one is loaded while the other is under the laser. Operator involvement is limited to supervision rather than material handling at either end of the machine.
Key features
Automated profile loading and unloading
On a beam laser, loading and unloading is usually where the time goes. Heavy sections wait on the crane, the operator lines each one up by hand, and the laser sits idle while finished parts are cleared. The H-ALS takes that work off the floor. Sections are picked from the infeed, positioned and fed to the GR-H automatically, and cut parts are removed and set down on the outfeed while the next length is already on its way in. The laser spends far more of the shift cutting, and one operator can run the cell rather than a crew working the crane.
Fully enclosed guarding
A full enclosure separates the operator from the working area during operation. Loading and cutting continue without personnel inside the guarded zone.
3D vision positioning
A 3D vision scanner locates each profile before pickup and corrects for position and alignment. Sections are presented to the laser without manual setting.
Magnetic pickup
Profiles are lifted by magnetic pickup rather than mechanical clamping. A range of section shapes is handled with the same gripper and material surfaces are not marked.
Pneumatic width adjustment
Support width is set pneumatically to the section in production. The profile is carried correctly through the cut without manual adjustment between section sizes.
Dual station exchange
Two stations operate in alternation, with one loaded while the other is under the laser. Waiting time for material at the cutting head is reduced.
Linked loading and unloading
Loading and unloading alternate between the two stations under a single control. Finished parts are cleared as the next section is presented, without a separate unloading cycle.
